Abraham’s Big Promise
Come and see how Abraham followed God to a brand-new land, trusting Him with every single step. It is a gentle story about believing God’s promises — even the ones as big as the stars in the sky.
Abraham loved God with all his heart, and he listened closely whenever God spoke. One quiet day, God said softly, “Abraham, leave your home and go to a new land that I will show you.” Abraham did not know exactly where that new land would be, but he knew God would lead him there. “I will bless you,” God told him, “and through your family, the whole world will be blessed.” Abraham listened, and deep inside his heart felt warm and safe.
So Abraham packed his things and got ready for a long, long journey. He took his wife, Sarah, and his nephew Lot, and they set off to follow wherever God led. They walked over rolling hills and through quiet, grassy fields, day after day after day. Abraham did not carry a map, but he trusted God to guide every single step. And God walked beside them the whole way, just as He had promised.
One peaceful night, God made Abraham a very special promise. “Abraham,” God said gently, “your family will grow and grow, more than you could ever count.” There would be children, and grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, year after year after year. Abraham was already old, and he had no children yet, but God’s promise was big and full of love. Abraham held those kind words close and tucked them safe in his heart.
Then God said softly, “Look up, Abraham. Look at the night sky.” Abraham tipped his head all the way back and saw the stars twinkling everywhere — silver and bright, far too many to count. “Your family will be like these stars,” God promised him. Abraham gazed at the shimmering sky and believed every word God said. He smiled a big, peaceful smile, for he knew God always keeps His promises.
Abraham and Sarah waited a long, long time, and they grew very, very old. Then one happy day, just as God had promised, a dear baby boy was born! They named him Isaac, and they laughed and laughed for joy. Abraham held little Isaac close and thanked God with his whole heart. God had kept His promise — and He always, always does.
Thank You, God, for keeping Your promise to Abraham and for giving him baby Isaac. Help us trust You and believe that You always keep Your promises, too.
