Jesus Returns to Heaven

Come and see what happened after Jesus rose again, when He stayed close to His friends and gave them a wonderful promise. Come and watch Him go home to heaven, where He is King, and learn that His love is for everyone, everywhere.

Jesus was alive again! After He rose from the grave, He came to be with His dear friends. They could see Him and hear Him and know it was really, truly Him. Their hearts were so happy, because the One they loved was right there beside them. For forty whole days, Jesus stayed close and taught them all about God’s kingdom.

One quiet day, Jesus made His friends a beautiful promise. “Wait here in Jerusalem,” He said gently, “for God is going to send you a special Helper.” He told them the Holy Spirit would come and fill their hearts. The Helper would be with them always, giving them comfort and courage. His friends listened closely and trusted every word Jesus said.

Then Jesus gave His friends a big and wonderful job to do. “Go and tell everyone about My love,” He said warmly. “Tell people near and far, in every town and every land.” He wanted children and grown-ups everywhere to know how much God cares for them. His friends smiled, ready to share the good news wherever they would go.

There on the Mount of Olives, as His friends watched, something amazing began to happen. Jesus lifted His hands and blessed them, and then He started to rise up, up into the sky. A soft cloud welcomed Him as He went home to heaven. His friends looked up and up, watching with wide, wondering eyes. Jesus was going to be with His Father, the King in heaven.

While they were still gazing at the sky, two angels in shining white stood beside them. “Jesus has gone to heaven,” the angels said kindly, “and one day He will come back again, just the same way.” His friends were filled with joy, and they bowed down to worship Him. They thanked God with glad and grateful hearts. And they knew that Jesus, their King, would always, always love them.

Thank You, God, that Jesus is the King in heaven who loves me so much. Thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to help me, and for letting me share Your love with everyone, everywhere.
